Leapmotor A05 Launches from 63,900 Yuan with Standard 8295 Chip Across All Trims

320
The Leapmotor A05 officially launched on August 11 in Hangzhou, positioned as a "smart, agile boutique sedan" priced from 63,900 to 90,900 yuan. All trims feature the Qualcomm 8295 cockpit chip, while the 510 LiDAR version adds LiDAR and a Qualcomm 8650 autonomous driving chip, achieving the only gate-to-gate full-scenario assisted driving in its class. Dimensions are 4200×1800×1560 mm with a 2605 mm wheelbase, offering 405 km and 510 km range options.

Launch Context: A Strategic Move After Breaking 100K Monthly Sales

Originally scheduled for August 10, the Leapmotor A05 launch was rescheduled to August 11 at Xizi Langqiao in Hangzhou due to Typhoon "White Dolphin." The timing carries significance — in July 2026, Leapmotor delivered 101,267 vehicles, up 102% year-on-year, becoming the first Chinese EV startup to break the 100,000 monthly delivery mark. The A05 launch is both a key step in completing the A-series "dual-vehicle matrix" and a critical move in Leapmotor's sprint toward its annual 1-million-unit target.

Leapmotor founder Zhu Jiangming has repeatedly emphasized that full-domain self-research is the underlying capability enabling the company to bring high-value configurations to affordable price bands. By self-developing and manufacturing 65% of high-value core components, Leapmotor enjoys far greater freedom in cost control than traditional automakers.

Product Core: Five-Dimension Over-Engineering, Redefining Budget EVs

The A05's product logic can be summarized as "excelling in the five dimensions that matter most to young first-time buyers, pushing performance to the limit — or even beyond its class."

Exterior Design: Distinctiveness Meets Personalization

  • Dimensions of 4200 mm × 1800 mm × 1560 mm, wheelbase 2605 mm, short front overhang balancing space and agility
  • Signature three-segment "emotional" headlights with high recognition
  • Six nature-inspired colors targeting personalized tastes
  • Collaboration with BVLGARI chief design consultant Matteo Menotto on a "warp and weft" luxury wrap pattern
  • Special edition with contrasting pink-and-ink exterior and suede-like interiors

Range and Powertrain: 2.5C Ultra-Fast Charging

The 510 km version packs a 53 kWh battery delivering a CLTC range of 510 km. With 2.5C ultra-fast charging, it recharges from 30% to 80% in just 16 minutes, adding over 15 km of range per minute. Energy consumption is as low as 10.6 kWh per 100 km. It features the segment's only seven-in-one oil-cooled electric drive, supporting stable cruising at 150 km/h. A tight 4.9-meter turning radius, combined with LMC motion control, makes navigating narrow city streets effortless.

Smart Cockpit: Standard 8295 Chip Across the Lineup

All trims come standard with the Qualcomm 8295 chip paired with a 14.6-inch 2.5K central screen. The new Leapmotor OS integrates the Tongyi Qianwen AI model, supporting multimodal interaction, dialect recognition, and full-scenario voice control. A 12-speaker, 7.1-channel audio system, microphone-free karaoke, and dual-ecosystem connectivity maximize cabin entertainment value.

Autonomous Driving: LiDAR at the 60K-Yuan Level

The 510 LiDAR version features high-precision LiDAR and a Qualcomm 8650 chip, achieving the only gate-to-gate full-scenario assisted driving in its class. It covers the entire loop from exiting the parking lot, transit, passing gates, cruising, to automatic parking. With 43 driver-assistance functions — including HPA memory parking, APA parking assist, and 120-meter trail reverse — it handles high-frequency scenarios like extremely tight spots and dead ends.

At the 85,900-yuan price point, this hardware combination is unmatched in the sub-100,000-yuan market. Leapmotor provides a definitive answer with the A05: high-end autonomous driving under 100,000 yuan is not only feasible, but can be done exceptionally well.

Space and Safety: CTC Technology Enabled

Leveraging CTC (Cell-to-Chassis) battery technology, the A05 achieves a class-leading 88.4% space utilization rate. The trunk offers 474 liters of base volume, expandable to 1,308 liters with rear seats folded. An industry-first 91-liter washable underfloor storage compartment supports high-pressure washing and wet-dry separation.

On safety, high-strength steel makes up 74% of the body structure, with 2000 MPa aerospace-grade thermoformed steel in critical occupant areas. The CTC 2.0 Plus battery technology guarantees no fire for 48 hours after thermal runaway. Full-speed, all-direction AEB can effectively brake at 120 km/h, while AES emergency steering assist creates a comprehensive chain of protection.

A-Series Dual-Vehicle Matrix Takes Shape

The A05 launch marks the formal completion of the A-series "dual-vehicle matrix." The A10 took just 135 days to produce its 100,000th unit in the sub-100,000-yuan electric SUV market, validating the A-platform's hit potential. The A05 enters as a sedan complement, sharing core technologies like CTC battery integration and seven-in-one electric drive with the A10, covering different lifestyles through SUV and sedan body styles.

Data shows the sedan market under 100,000 yuan moves roughly 5.37 million units annually. Huachuang Securities projects monthly sales of the A05 could reach 15,000 to 20,000 units. If achieved, the A-series duo would contribute a stable base of over 30,000 units per month for Leapmotor.

For automotive buyers in Central Asian and Russian markets, the Leapmotor A05 demonstrates Chinese EV makers' powerful ability to bring advanced intelligent features down to entry-level price points. For more Chinese EV updates, visit EX1000.COM.
