BYD's Denza brand launched the N8L pure electric version on September 14, 2026, with a starting price of RMB 299,800 and a top-trim price of RMB 329,800. The new model is equipped with a 130.15 kWh second-generation Blade Battery, offers a CLTC range of 960 km, adopts an 800V architecture, and supports flash charging, going from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes. Previously, the N8L was available only as a plug-in hybrid; with the addition of the pure electric version, it now has a parallel plug-in hybrid and pure electric lineup. The vehicle is positioned as a large 6-seat SUV, with a length of 5,200 mm and a wheelbase of 3,075 mm. This launch did not involve overseas rollout or pricing, and the flash charging experience depends on a dedicated charging network.
Denza N8L BEV officially launched on September 14, 2026, starting at 299,800 yuan. Previously the model was offered only as a plug-in hybrid; with the addition of a BEV version, the N8L now has a powertrain lineup that runs PHEV and BEV in parallel within the same model line. For this premium brand under BYD, this is both a product-line fill-in and a further rollout of its second-generation Blade Battery and flash charging technology into the premium SUV segment.
Two versions, top trim at 329,800 yuan
The Denza N8L BEV comes in two configurations: the Flash Charging Exclusive Edition at 299,800 yuan (approximately $44,280), and the Flash Charging Flagship Edition at 329,800 yuan.
In terms of powertrain, the BEV version uses a single rear motor with a maximum power of 370 kW (about 496 hp), paired with an 800V electrical architecture. Compared with the previous PHEV version, the BEV version is clearly differentiated in its powertrain structure.
130.15 kWh second-generation Blade Battery, 960 km CLTC range
Range is the most closely watched parameter of this car. The Denza N8L BEV is equipped with a 130.15 kWh second-generation Blade Battery, has a CLTC range of 960 km, and supports BYD's flash charging technology.

According to figures previously released by the company, on dedicated flash charging piles, compatible BYD models can charge from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes and from 10% to 97% in 9 minutes. As of August 28, BYD had built 10,000 flash charging stations in China and reiterated its target of 20,000 by the end of the year.
It is worth noting that Denza also said the Z9S has the longest range of any mass-produced BEV, breaking the previous record of 1,036 km held by the Denza Z9GT.
Dimensions and chassis: product definition of a large six-seat SUV
The Denza N8L BEV carries over the body dimensions of the PHEV version: 5,200 mm long, 1,999 mm wide, 1,820 mm high, with a 3,075 mm wheelbase, and a 2+2+2 six-seat layout.
In terms of chassis configuration, the vehicle is equipped with the DiSus-A body control system, including dual-chamber air suspension and CDC dampers; the rear-wheel steering system reduces the minimum turning radius to 4.58 meters. For a large SUV more than 5.2 meters long, this parameter directly affects convenience in urban use scenarios.
The BEV version adds a 208-liter electric frunk and features a covered drain, making it easy to rinse out. The company says this design makes it convenient for family users to carry camping gear or items covered in sand or dirt.
On the intelligence front, the vehicle is equipped with the God's Eye 5.0 system with LiDAR, supporting highway and urban navigation-assisted driving as well as automated parking.
From PHEV-only to BEV addition
The N8L was first launched in October 2025, when it was offered only as a plug-in hybrid. In June this year, Denza replaced the original version with a flash-charging PHEV version, starting at 319,800 yuan; that version is equipped with a 75.26 kWh second-generation Blade Battery and has a 430 km CLTC electric range.

From a pricing standpoint, the BEV version's starting price of 299,800 yuan is lower than the current flash-charging PHEV version's 319,800 yuan; from a technical configuration standpoint, the BEV version raises battery capacity from 75.26 kWh to 130.15 kWh and electric range from 430 km to 960 km. The two powertrain routes divide roles in refueling/recharging habits and use cases: the PHEV version relies more on the flexibility of fuel energy replenishment, while the BEV version focuses the experience on battery capacity and flash charging efficiency.
Denza said the addition of the BEV version expands the N8L's coverage of family users with different powertrain preferences, and also expands BYD's lineup of models equipped with the second-generation Blade Battery and flash charging technology.
Implications for premium overseas expansion
The launch information focuses on the product, domestic pricing, and charging network, and does not touch on overseas market launch arrangements or pricing.
From observable factors, the two capabilities underpinning the N8L BEV have strong systemic characteristics: first, the second-generation Blade Battery's performance in energy density and capacity; second, flash charging technology and its supporting station network. The efficiency of flash charging is highly dependent on dedicated charging facilities, which means the user experience of this technology is directly related to the pace of infrastructure rollout. The 10,000 stations disclosed by the company so far and the year-end target of 20,000 are both China market figures.
For observers following the premiumization of Chinese NEV makers, the N8L BEV provides a sample: in the highly competitive large six-seat SUV segment, Chinese brands are trying to support a 300,000-yuan price band with a combination of battery capacity, charging speed, and chassis configuration. Whether this combination can be replicated in overseas markets depends on the localized supporting capability of the battery and flash charging systems, and this variable has not yet been answered in this launch.
