At the 2026 China Auto Forum, FREELANDER Global CEO Wen Fei proposed the "JV 3.0" strategy. Unlike JV 1.0's "follower" mindset or JV 2.0's "empowerment" phase, JV 3.0's core is comprehensive overhaul across technology roadmaps, supply chains, sales, delivery, and service systems.
JV 3.0: Full-Chain Overhaul
On July 22, at the 2026 China Auto Forum, FREELANDER Global CEO Wen Fei delivered a keynote. He noted the industry has entered a period of disruption and reconstruction driven by intelligent electrification.
Wen identified three major shifts defining the transformation: intelligent electrification reshaping technology roadmaps, China's new energy and smart supply chains redefining automakers' system capabilities, and a wave of globalization restructuring the industrial landscape.
FREELANDER is a standalone brand built from the ground up based on a "Joint Venture 3.0" model. Unlike JV 1.0's "follower" mindset or JV 2.0's "empowerment" phase, JV 3.0's core is comprehensive overhaul across technology, supply chain, sales, delivery, service, and organizational efficiency.
Chery + JLR: Complementary Resources
In 2024, Chery and Jaguar Land Rover signed an agreement to elevate FREELANDER into an independent global brand. JLR provides original design, premium positioning, and accumulated all-terrain data. The Chinese team integrates leading intelligent and new energy supply chain capabilities.
FREELANDER's first model will debut in China in August 2026. The vehicle will be based on Chery's E0X electric platform, featuring Huawei's intelligent cockpit and driving systems.
