IM Motors Opportunities and Challenges

Opportunities

  • Technical backing: SAIC's accumulated expertise in smart cockpits and e-powertrains
  • Brand repositioning: Transition from "joint venture reliance" to "independent dominance" with self-owned brands exceeding 70%
  • Product matrix: LS6/LS8/LS9 covering SUV segments, L6/L7 covering sedans

Challenges

  • Absolute sales volume: 8,000 monthly units ranks mid-to-lower among new forces
  • Model transition gaps: LS7 and L7 sales near zero; new product cadence needs acceleration
  • Overseas expansion lag: Smaller export scale compared to BYD and Chery
