All-Solid-State Battery Mass Production Timeline Revealed: Who Will Break Through First in 2026-2030?
All-solid-state batteries are hailed as the "ultimate form" of power batteries, and their mass production timeline has become a focal point of the global new energy vehicle industry. Dongfeng Group announced it will initiate all-solid-state battery mass production in the second half of 2026, powering vehicles with 1,000km+ range. BYD revealed its all-solid-state batteries have entered vehicle testing, with small-batch installation planned for 2027. Toyota is targeting 2027-2028 for sulfide all-solid-state battery mass production. Meanwhile, many "solid-state batteries" launched by Chinese companies are actually semi-solid or quasi-solid-state. True all-solid-state battery mass production still needs to overcome three major technical hurdles: electrolyte-electrode interface, large-scale manufacturing processes, and cost control. This article reviews the mass production timelines of major global automakers and battery companies, analyzing who is likely to achieve commercial breakthrough first.
