Leapmotor Surpasses 1.5 Million Cumulative Deliveries, Chairman Zhu Pushes Full-Stack Self-Development

388
Leapmotor founder Zhu Jiangming stated at the 2026 China Auto Forum that only technological innovation can break through homogenized competition. The company has surpassed 1.5 million cumulative global deliveries, with June monthly deliveries reaching 93,376 units—a new record—and first-half sales hitting 356,000 units.

From 100 Units Monthly to 1 Million Annually: Leapmotor's Acceleration Curve

On July 22, 2026, at the China Auto Forum, Leapmotor founder, Chairman and CEO Zhu Jiangming reviewed the company's development trajectory. After the launch of its first model, the S01, in 2019, monthly sales once fell below 100 units. Yet by June 18, 2026, Leapmotor's cumulative global deliveries had surpassed 1.5 million units. More tellingly, the delivery pace has consistently accelerated: the first 500,000 units took 64 months, the second 500,000 shrank to 12 months, and the third 500,000 required only 8 months.

Zhu candidly stated that amid intensifying homogenized competition in the NEV market, only technological innovation can enable companies to break through. He noted that by 2026, new energy vehicles had already captured over 63% of the Chinese market share.

Full-Stack Self-Development: Leapmotor's Cost Control Formula

Leapmotor's core competitive advantage lies in building a full-stack in-house R&D system covering batteries, electric drive, electronic control, intelligent cockpits, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), progressively extending self-manufacturing to traditional components such as compressors, seats, and bumpers.

This system delivers direct benefits across three dimensions:

  • Platform-driven cost reduction: All C-series and B-series models now adopt silicon carbide-based 800V high-voltage platform solutions, placing Leapmotor among industry leaders in high-voltage fast-charging vehicles on the road
  • Industrial cluster localization: A localized industrial cluster within a 20-kilometer radius in Jinhua enables 70% of large components to be sourced nearby, significantly cutting logistics and manufacturing costs
  • External supply value-add: Bundled platform-based core component solutions offered to partner automakers save at least RMB 1,000–2,000 per vehicle

Zhu distilled Leapmotor's product philosophy into one sentence: "We apply B2B logic to B2C business—products carry no premium, like selling stainless steel. If your product is 20 yuan cheaper for the same quality, everyone will buy yours."

Gen 5 E/E Architecture: AI Agents Driving the Next Chapter

Looking ahead, Zhu revealed that Leapmotor's fifth-generation electronic/electrical (E/E) architecture will focus on AI agents integrating vehicle and cloud systems. Breakthroughs across four key areas are planned for unveiling at the company's technology launch event in September 2026.

Meanwhile, Leapmotor's management continues to signal market confidence. In July 2026, Zhu and shareholder Fu Liquan collectively purchased approximately 4,814,200 H shares on the open market at an average price of about HK$35.86 per share. Their combined purchases over the past six months have reached nearly HK$900 million, with cumulative purchases since 2024 approaching HK$2 billion.

Leapmotor's overseas expansion is also accelerating. The company has explicitly stated that going global is not about low-price dumping, but about delivering "exceptional value, higher specifications, superior quality, and fair pricing."
