BYD brought its three core brands — BYD, DENZA, and YANGWANG — to the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed, with the DENZA Z electric supercar making its European debut. The BYD Group's 2,016-square-meter stand set a record as the largest single-brand display in the event's 33-year history, with eight new models debuting simultaneously.
Three-Brand Matrix Lands at Goodwood
On July 9 local time, the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed opened in West Sussex, UK. BYD Group brought its three core brands — BYD, DENZA, and YANGWANG — occupying a 2,016-square-meter exhibition area that set a record as the largest single-brand stand in the event's 33-year history. BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li and 2009 F1 World Champion Jenson Button jointly unveiled the global debut of the DENZA Z.
The eight new models on display covered a complete product matrix from supermini to hypercar, including:
DENZA Z Coupe and Z Racing (global debut)
DENZA Z9GT, DENZA D9, DENZA BAO 5 (European debut)
YANGWANG U9 Xtreme, U8L, U7 (UK debut)
BYD Dolphin G DM-i, BYD SHARK pickup (UK/European debut)
DENZA Z: Redefining the Electric Supercar Standard
The DENZA Z was undoubtedly the star of this year's Goodwood. Built on BYD's dedicated e³ sports car platform, it features a tri-motor powertrain delivering a staggering 1,605 hp and peak torque of 1,260 Nm. The DENZA Z is offered in three variants: Coupe, Spider convertible, and Racing track edition.
Variant | 0-100 km/h | Top Speed | UK Price |
|---|---|---|---|
Coupe | 2.25 s | 300 km/h | £142,900 |
Spider | 2.30 s | 300 km/h | £159,900 |
Racing | 1.96 s | 350 km/h | £172,900 |
The Racing variant features an aggressive full carbon-fiber aerodynamic package generating 1,060 kg of downforce at 217 mph (~349 km/h). All variants are equipped with BYD's second-generation Blade Battery and made the first UK demonstration of FLASH Charging technology — capable of charging from 10% to 70% in just five minutes.
BYD also plans to attempt a production EV lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife later this autumn with a special edition DENZA Z.
UK Market Performance and Global Ambitions
Behind the Goodwood debut lies BYD's rapid rise in the UK market. Data shows BYD has become the fastest-growing EV brand in the UK, with cumulative sales exceeding 10,000 units, already surpassing established players like Tesla, BMW, and Volkswagen in EV sales.
This multi-brand showcase at Goodwood marks an evolution in BYD's globalization strategy from single-brand export to tiered brand positioning:
BYD Brand: Targets the mainstream passenger car market with high-value DM-i plug-in hybrid and pure electric products.
DENZA Brand: Positioned as a premium brand, entering Europe's high-end market with the Z series supercars and Z9GT shooting brake.
YANGWANG Brand: Positioned as an ultra-luxury brand, with the U9 Xtreme Fresh the global production car speed record at 496.22 km/h with over 3,000 hp.
Stella Li stated: "This is more than a product showcase. It is a statement of intent. Through three differently positioned brands, BYD is demonstrating its technological depth in electrification, intelligent technologies, performance, and sustainable mobility."
